Samsung S8 Can You Downgrade Oreo to Install Root
-
I posted this in another thread but I figured it might be best to first a new thread for those who may not know the process of downgrading using Odin, for others like me who admittedly despised Oreo...
Very easy!
First off... Pro tip: Practice Non RESTORE FROM YOUR GOOGLE Fill-in OR Whatsoever BACKUPS Any! Offset COMPLETELY FRESH!
Go to Sammobile, go to the firmware section, type in and search for your model number, and download the latest nougat file for your phone and carrier. It takes a while to download if y'all annals a free account (a few hours for me) ... brand sure you take the latest Odin installed, which you'll observe a link to from that aforementioned page in the instructions section if you scroll a little ways downward. Sign out of ALL Samsung and Google accounts on the phone earlier starting the process. Follow the instructions carefully and y'all'll be all ready. There'due south also a video you can and should lookout man. If any of yous end up doing it, I highly recommend skipping the initial setup procedure, powering down, and booting into stock recovery (volume up, Bixby button and power button held at the same time) and factory reset once again (my ritual is 3 times in a row for good mensurate, and so reboot system)
It's that simple!
Good luck!

Nice write-upwardly, also covered in an administrator's guide - https://forums.androidcentral.com/am...interface.html
Information technology should be pointed out that you lot would desire to be sure y'all have a fill-in of any data on the device before starting the process as it Volition become wiped. Also of note is that this does not prevent you from getting nagged to update again.

Non sure if this is immune, but I'm doing information technology anyhow. Here's what you're looking for - assuming y'all have the S8 and not the plus model...

Actually I take both but the regular S8 would be the one I would endeavor first since I'd have minimal stuff to back up compared to my +.
I did a search on that site and plant 4 like downloads for the + but not the right ones.Cheers much!
EDIT>>> I thought these two phones were identical except for size? All the same needs a different file?
... unless this is it

You lot're welcome!
Aye, even so a different model number. SM-G950U VS SM-G955U for the plus model. The firmware files would be slightly different, and as far equally I know not interchangeable.
Good luck with the downgrade! And don't worry nearly any errors you might get on the telephone. If Odin says information technology was successful, y'all're good. Just wait for information technology to reboot (which might take a while the starting time fourth dimension) and skip through the initial setup process, reboot into recovery, factory reset again, reboot system and you'll be good to get.

I edited my post a couple times and your quote doesn't have the link in my second edit so I'm assuming you didn't see it.
If y'all accept a 2d since you obviously know fashion more about this than me... could yous have a look at it and confirm information technology would be proficient for the S8+03-27-2018 01:38 PM

Aye I saw information technology, my mistake I meant to annotate on that. The link I posted is good for your S8 on ATT. The link you lot posted is skilful for your S8+ on ATT. They aren't interchangeable, so exist certain y'all're using the correct files for the right phone.

Hey, cheers for asking... and for the help.
The short answer is I didn't try it yet.
I wanted to await until the weekend in case I ran into whatsoever problems.
Since then I've become obsessed with finishing my arcade cabinet... Irresolute over from Hyperspin to Launchbox (if yous're familiar with the hobby)... and calculation quite a few emulators I never intended to.
Hoping to have it done in the next few days then back to the phone.I'll definitely post my results though.

Vaguely familiar with Launchbox. Sounds awesome! I have my original Xbox modded with a agglomeration of emulators and a seemingly endless list of classic games, so I definitely sympathize the obsession lol

I have a few small-scale questions about this, sorry for beingness dumb.
First off, I went to sammobile and and searched for firmware for my Galaxy A5 2022 (SM-A520F) and my commencement question is, does information technology affair which carrier I choose? I am from Austria and my phone is from TMobile, but it was fully unlocked for all carriers. I currently have Telering as my pre-paid carrier, then practise I cull its firmware?
Furthermore, this method of flashing the OS via Odin does work for all Samsung phones, not just the S8 and S8+? Or will it not work with my A5 2017? Too, how practise I get the developer options, to turn off car updates? I don't desire to go through this just so the telephone redownloads the newest version afterwards just a few days.
Sad for asking and then many questions, but I just really wanna have the older version of Samsung Feel back, and so I tin can use my custom AOD groundwork over again.05-17-2018 04:22 AM

I've been attempting to downgrade from an early eight.0 back to stock vii.0 for my S8+ for more than a week, at least 25 attempts using ODIN3 latest and Ever ENDS WITH Fail?? I take was I think are the correct codes for my AT&T s8+ "G955USQU1AQC9_G955UOYN1AQC9_ATT" downloaded from Sammobile. And Yes, I accept latest Samsung drivrs, skillful cable, that sort of thing...
DOES ANYONE Take Whatever Idea WHAT I CAN DO NEXT, I'Yard REALLY OUT OF CREATIVE OPTIONS!!! HELP Delight!!!

I'1000 simply doing this so I can return to receiving the regular AT&T carrier updates!! Surely one of you very knowledgeable people out there in Androidland can assist a guy out?!

Finally gave up and requested a replacement S8+ under warranty.... All is back to normal, running official Oreo 8.0 and already received June Security patches, CASE CLOSED!!
Lesson Learned; although I eventually managed to downgrade to an AT&T 7.0 version, my device never did regain the power to receive AT&T ota updates. Agree or disagree, I advise avoiding unnoficial software updates, the troubles and time wasted afterwards are merely not worth it!!

Not at all!! ...and if you lot practice brick your telephone y'all can unbrick it anyhow. All I'm saying is that once you update to an unofficial version, yous pretty well are stuck at updating that fashion going forwards. To each their own!

Based on my feel, in one case you lot update to an unofficial version, you're pretty well stuck at updating that way going forward. I spent many hours trying all sorts of means being recommended to me some pretty savy users! In the end, I was never able to return to the original AT&T carrier version. You can certainly get back to Nougat, just not the carrier version!

Also equally installing the earlier Os y'all'll also need to disable updates or information technology will probably begin nagging about them again earlier long. There are only and then many times you can proceed borer "LATER" to dismiss the forced dialog box it throws upward before you lot feel like getting a different phone as this one is then difficult to live with.
The "Developer Options" thing ("Motorcar Update Organization" = No) doesn't work, confirmed past Samsung - the settings will exist ignored. There'south also another setting which turns off Automatic Downloads. Again, confirmed - the setting is useless and will be ignored.
You'll need to install BK Package Disabler and cake a number of things including and especially "Software Update".
This will indeed forbid the phone from looking for whatever further updates.
There is a particular sequence you need to practice this in. If anyone needs help permit me know and I'll see if I can call back precisely how I managed it.
